Hi guys.

I'm looking around for the alternate-type pots that actually rest on the outside of the deep well, sitting at cooktop level, They would be used with their own lids rather than the deepwell cover.

I think this would be a better arrangement for canning, because you need to be able to monitor the pot contents constantly. Canning also produces lots of steam, which I wouldn't want to confine in the deepwell. (rust, and all...)

Now, that said, there are quite a few different brands I'm seeing on eBay that say they'll work. BUT - I just got an email form someone who bought one and said it was too small for his stove...

So, if anyone has one of these pots that works out well, what company made it?

By the way, since I don't own a Chambers yet, what exactly ARE the dimensions of the Thermowell? This info could help answer the first question, too, in case no one else uses their thermowell this way.

    Thanks everybody.

Canning is done in the Oven "with the gas turned off" - I have the Canning Charts if you need one.

The measurements for the large Thermowell kettle are:

    6.5" tall x 9.25" across (diameter)
